WOHS Swim Team Season Preview

WEST ORANGE, Nj — The West Orange Swimming Season kicked off last week.

On Nov. 30, the Boys swimming team went against Seton Hall Prep, as the girls faced Mount St Dominic. The swim team has already faced three opponents, with the girls team having a record of 3-0 and the boys 1-2. Comparing to last season for the team, the girls had a record of 11-1 and the boys had a record of 5-6. For the rest of the season, the swimming team does remain hopeful in how they will do this season.

“Our team definitely has the potential to improve a lot,” stated swimmer Santiago Salinas, “We can improve through the actions of our captains and also their inspiration.”

Inspiration has been lacking in past years according to Salinas, but this year it is expected to be the total opposite. The upperclassmen have been supportive and showing multiple leadership qualities during practices and matches. Salinas continued that the freshmen and newcomers have shown a lot of energy and effort.

The number 1 thing that the swim team wants to repeat is the work ethic they have created last year, such as accountability, as well as setting goals for themselves.

“We hope to accomplish the plans of creating a winning environment for the team and create a long lasting legacy for the team in the future,” commented Salinas.

Good Luck to the Swimming Team on their Season!
