Soundcloud rapper Lil Skies has gotten quite the attention over the last several months and this year might be the year he finally blows up.

Lil Skies just released his first mixtape, “Life Of A Dark Rose” which might lead him to join some of the top new rappers on the XXL Freshmen magazine.Which would be a big milestone for Lil Skies who grew up trying to be a rapper since he was young.

But Lil Skies isn’t your regular new 2018 rapper. Most of Skies’ songs discuss his background and thoughts. Skies has his own style and sound differentiating him from other soundcloud artists.

Rapper Lil Skies was born Demetrius Foose in Waynesboro, PA in 1998. Interested in music from his early childhood, Foose was recording and writing lyrics by the time he was 12 and eventually took on the name Lil Skies given to him by his father.

When enrolled at Shippensburg University, he dropped out to focus on music due to his rapidly growing fanbase. He released several singles and videos, notably, “Signs of Jealousy,” which caught the attention of Atlantic Records. The major label offered Lil Skies a deal in 2017.

Lately, Lil Skies has been reaching big milestones since the start of the year. Lil Skies has two songs on the top 100 billboard for the first time in his young career. “Nowadays,” featuring Landon Cube, leads at No. 85, as the song earned 8.4 million U.S. streams (up 30 percent) and 3,000 downloads sold (up 16 percent) in the tracking week, according to Nielsen Music. Meanwhile, his debut album “Life of a Dark Rose” is No. 23 on the Billboard 200.
