Tuesday night, October 23, The West Orange High School Girls Tennis Team triumphantly claimed the Super Essex Conference Liberty Division Championship after downing Mount Saint Dominic by a tight score of 3-2. Nneka Arinzeh, Sophia Ruggerio, Funke Oshodi, and Johanna Jaegar all acquired wins to help their team to a first conference title since 2016. Coach Jeffery Mazurek says was ecstatic with the victory. He says, “Our goal from the start of the season was win the conference and we were able to do that so I was really happy and proud of the girls. They worked really hard for it, especially in the last match, it was like three and a half hours.” The girls ended the season with a 8-10 record but were victorious in the moment it truly mattered. The future is bright for these talented set of girls and they hope to improve in the off season for a better record and more accolades next year.
