If you were not a teacher what would you be?

This is my fourth career, so I wouldn’t really want to be doing anything else right now.If anything doing more advocacy for public education but I’m pretty content where I’m at.

Describe yourself using one word.

Thoughtful, I think.

What are you most grateful for in your life and why?

My mother. I’ll try not to cry, she has been a constant source of inspiration in my life and provided well for me as a young person. You know it’s funny, she just turned 80, so on New Year’s day, my mother’s birthday is on New Year’s day, and I gave a toast and I said two things. I said how she is an inspiration and a blessing.

What are some of your favorite hobbies?

Bike riding, hiking, dancing, spending time with people I love, and laughing.

How would you describe your alter ego?

Nervous

Do you have any pet peeves?

Disorganization and a lack of self-awareness.

What’s your favorite genre of music and why?

I would say rhythm and blues. I love the rhythms and the beats and I think also its connection to American history and learning about how it relates to it.

What makes you happy?

Sunshine, looking at a beautiful open sky, music, good food and good conversation.
