WOtown is Our Town
West Orange High School (WOHS) is putting on the production of “Our Town,” a play about a bunch of people in a small town of New Hampshire written by Thornton Wilder. Throughout the production, we see the lives of the town’s people through flashbacks and a narrator. The purpose is to show the audience that in life, we tend to take things for granted and that people often don’t realize what they have until it is gone.
WOHS’ production of “Our Town” will be directed by Wendy Mapes, the drama instructor at the high school. In addition, senior, Sophia Torres, the assistant director and Deborah Coen, a teacher at WOHS, is the producer. Some characters to look out for would be Stage Manager portrayed by Katy Meyerson, Emily played by Shanelle Chambliss, George played by Khalil Louigene and many others.
Even if acting or seeing a play is not an interest “Our Town” represents something more. The show should transform the audience from whom they were before the show, to whom they become after. Come see “Our Town” on Thursday, Nov. 2, Friday, Nov. 3 and, Saturday, Nov. 4.
