SNHS Tree Planting
WEST ORANGE, Nj — A tree planting ceremony organized by the Science National Honor Society (SNHS) took place at West Orange High School (WOHS) on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 18. Six trees donated by the SNHS were planted in front of the Pleasant Valley Way (PVW) and Auditorium entrances of the high school.
Led by President, Margeaux Whitehead and Vice President Tiffany Sagastume, approximately 30 students participated in preparing the ground for the trees. Landscaping services were graciously donated by Michael Giovine of Giovine Landscaping.
According to Co-Advisor of the SNHS Ms. Laureni, the tree planting took place thanks to Dr. Mancarella. The SNHS had available funds that they wanted to use to do something for the school. After speaking to one another, Dr. Mancarella suggested the idea of planting trees to Ms. Laureni, which was later brought up to the school administration. The school administration then approved the event and selected the site.
“This is not something we do every year,” Says Ms. Laureni, “But as we accumulate funds, we hope to do more beautification projects for our school.”
