The Season Starts too Early
Most people love the holiday season. So much so, that some stores put out holiday decorations before Halloween.
It’s not just in stores and advertising, SiriusXM satellite radio started their Holiday Traditions station. Two whole months before the week of Christmas, and already they went overboard. Even radio stations 101.1FM & 106.7FM play nothing but Christmas music for the final month and a half of the year.
There is nothing wrong with cultures or religions, but the holiday obsessions are overdone, and it takes the attention away from the holidays that deserve focus at the appropriate time. Thanksgiving is not just a pre-Christmas marketing day, it’s a time where we get together with friends at family to acknowledge what makes life worth living. Halloween is a night for fun and laughs, not a time to get great deals on decorations for a night that won’t come for another two months.
