The Last Jedi: Movie Review
The latest installment in the “Star Wars” franchise, “Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi” has arrived. It surpassed $1 billion, and is the highest grossing movie of 2017. While the critics praised the movie, many fans’ reactions have ranged from unimpressed to anger.
Picking up where “The Force Awakens” left off, a Force-sensitive scavenger girl named Rey finds Jedi-knight, Luke Skywalker on top of a mountain, and asks him to train her. Meanwhile, the evil First Order still searches for Skywalker while also trying to locate and wipe out the Resistance.
The movie is not perfect. However, it is by no means bad. If anything, it’s still great. It features numerous nostalgic moments to the previous films, amazing music (which I thought was kind of lacking in “The Force Awakens” and 2016’s “Rogue One”), and astounding performances from the main cast. Oh, and there’s porgs, a new cute animal similar to a bird.
Granted, there are one or two bits that many people found a bit distracting, but I won’t spoil it for those who have not seen the movie yet.
Despite the minor problems, “The Last Jedi” keeps the franchise rolling smoothly and not only continues the arcs from “The Force Awakens,” but also gets the audience hyped for the next episode in 2019! The next installment in the “Star Wars” saga is “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” coming May 25, 2018.
