The Battle of the Bobs
On November 6th 2018, Bob Menendez (D) and Bob Hugin (R) will face off in a hotly contested Senate race.
Robert Menendez has been a New Jersey senator for 12 years, but he has come under fire due to allegations of corruption, including accusations of accepting bribes from an optician in exchange for protecting said their interests. Charges against him were dismissed, however many still believe he is guilty. In fact, he was “severely admonished” by the Senate Ethics Committee.
However, his opponent has no fewer ethical woes. Hugin was formerly the CEO of a pharmaceutical company, where he artificially inflated the price of cancer drugs by over 500%. In addition, he has refused to allow a lower-priced generic version of this medicine be available so that more patients can have access.
The race appears to be leaning towards Menendez, but it is hard to tell who will prevail.
