Meet the Staff: Kenny Corcoran
What is your role in the school newspaper?
I am the Copy Editor.
What is about writing for the school paper that gives you the most joy?
Having the freedom, for the most part, to write what I want.
How long have you been writing for The Pioneer?
2 years (since junior year).
Who inspires you?
Kevin Burkhardt, because when he covered the New York Mets I enjoyed the way he carried himself calling games in the box. I also enjoyed how he came off as intellectual and exciting making me interested and excited to listen to his broadcasts.
Any other activities that you enjoy taking part in?
Outside of writing for the Newspaper I work at a local restaurant called Bond’s Tavern.
Who would win in a fight between a bear and a lion?
A Bear because they have better abilities than lions, such as: the fact they can run and climb faster than a lot of people think they can, and faster than lions.
Favorite TV show or movie?
My favorite movie is Devil’s Advocate.
Are you interested in pursuing a career in journalism?
Yes, that’s what I plan on majoring in college, and then hopefully entering a career of Journalism.
How has writing for the Pioneer helped you try and get to that point?
Writing for the Pioneer, has helped me diversify what I write because before the Pioneer I only wrote sports articles, but after writing for the Pioneer I was able to expand my portfolio.
Lastly, why should everyone read the West Orange Pioneer?
People should read the Pioneer because they can find out so much interesting information about our town, and our school.
