Today marks the 4 year anniversary of Drake’s Views album release
Perhaps one of Drake’s most popular albums, “Views” dropped on 4/29/2016. According to OurGeneration’s Music, the album sold 852k units in its first week. Being his 4th studio album, it’s most notable for the tracks One dance, Controlla, and Hotline Bling. The album debuted #1 on Billboards top 200 lists starting on May 21, 2016 and remained there for 13 consecutive weeks.
Nonetheless, this album seemed to be an album of Drake being in his feelings with the tracks: Fire&Desire, Too Good, Summers over interlude, U with Me, With You, Faithful, and Redemption, all referencing relationship issues with a woman in his life. Despite this, Drake still managed to include the hype songs: Grammys, Hype, Still Here, and Pop Style as a means of keeping the fans who love his rapping the most satisfied. The album lived up to the hype, becoming a certified 6x platinum by RIAA in September 2019. As Drake said, “Views already a classic”.
