In-person instruction will begin as follows:
What’s new for WOHS?
West Orange High School will begin its hybrid schedule on Feb. 8, the start of Quarter 3. Notable changes to the schedule include cohorts that work based on the student’s last name and new period times.
How do Cohorts work?
There are four Cohorts. Cohort A is for students with last names A-D, Cohort B is for students with last names E-K, Cohort C is for students with last names L-Q, and Cohort D is for students with last names R-Z.
On Week One, students in Cohort A will have periods 1-4 on Monday, and periods 5-8 on Tuesday. Cohort B will have periods 1-4 on Wednesday and periods 5-8 on Thursday. Friday remains an Asynchronous/Lab day.
On Week Two, students in Cohort C will have periods 1-4 on Monday, and periods 5-8 on Tuesday. Cohort D will have periods 1-4 on Wednesday and periods 5-8 on Thursday. Again, Friday remains an Asynchronous/Lab day.
What is the new Class Time Schedule?
The new WOHS hybrid schedule will also introduce a new class time schedule. Each period will last for 60 minutes with ten minute breaks in between periods.
Periods 1 and 5 will begin at 9:45 a.m., 2 hours and 15 minutes later than the 7:30 a.m. start time that students have been using since the start of the school year, and will end at 10:45 a.m.
Period 2 and 6 will be from 10:55 a.m. to 11:55 a.m.
Periods 3 and 7 will be from 12:05 p.m. to 1:05 p.m.
Periods 4 and 8 will be from 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
The Friday lab schedule will remain the same.
