2021 Prom Update
Due to the hard work and diligence of the WOHS Class of 2021 Council, West Orange High School WILL be holding a prom for the Class of 2021. However, there will be several safety restrictions put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Prom will be held outdoors at the Birchwood Manor on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. According to the class council, the current official restrictions are as follows:
- Maximum capacity of 200 people
- Proper mask-wearing unless eating at assigned table
- Maximum of eight people per table
- Dancing is not permitted
There are no two ways around it: these conditions are not ideal. However, these restrictions have been put in place to abide by the irrefutable state laws. We must remember that New Jersey is one of the highest risk states in the country at this time, causing many high schools across the state to already call off their prom. Should the number of cases decrease by June, there is a good chance that we can see some of these restrictions lifted.
For now, we should appreciate the hard work that the class council has put in to allow us to end the year with some sense of normalcy. If you are a senior and have not filled out the availability form for prom yet, click the link below to do so.
