How to Travel Post-Pandemic

WEST ORANGE, NJ- The weather is still inconsistent, birds are chirping, and summer is almost here. Numerous places are opening cautiously with COVID-19 still affecting our daily lives,  and more people are getting the vaccine, as people go out in the cool springtime weather as they travel with caution.

The CDC provides information on domestic traveling during COVID-19 for people who have and haven’t been vaccinated and information that travelers need to know when planning to travel.

Traveling for fully vaccinated people:

  1. They can travel safely within the U.S.
  2. During your travels, wear a mask. Masks are required on all forms of transportation, within the U.S. and outside the U.S.
  3. Stay more than 6 feet away from others who aren’t traveling with you.
  4. After traveling, monitor yourself for COVID-19 symptoms and get tested if you haven’t been fully vaccinated.

Traveling for unvaccinated people:

  1. Before traveling, get a viral test 1-3 days before your trip.
  2. During your travels, wear a mask. Masks are required on all forms of transportation, within the U.S. and outside the U.S.
  3. Stay more than 6 feet away from others who aren’t traveling with you.
  4. After your trip, get tested with a viral test 3-5 days after; self-quarantine yourself for a week.
  5. If you decide not to get tested, quarantine yourself for 10 days and avoid being around others.

Individuals do not have to be vaccinated to travel. There are just more restrictions for those who aren’t to protect themselves and others from the ongoing spread of the coronavirus. Although more requirements are being added for travelers who want to travel who haven’t taken the vaccine as measures of precaution.
