Sean “P. Diddy” Combs is three-time Grammy winning rapper, record producer, and executive producer – since the start of his early career in the 90s, Combs has been a well-known figure in the music industry for his development of famous artists and hosting notorious Hollywood parties filled to the brim with celebrities and wealth. Shockingly for the public, that glittering vision was torn down on September 16, 2024, when Combs was arrested by federal agents in a New York City hotel. It was quickly revealed that the Hollywood star had been detained for sex-trafficking, racketeering, assault, and extortion. Over 100 victims have come forth to stand against Combs for his trial in the spring of 2025. As of now, he is in jail, being held without bail.
In 1993, the Harlem-born star founded Bad Boy Records, a record label that represented many popular artists in the 90s, including Usher and The Notorious B.I.G. Success in the music arena allowed Combs to expand his business into other lines of consumerism like clothes, fragrances, alcohol, and media; his work built him into a billion-dollar empire.
Before his arrest, Combs was well known for his glamorous, Hollywood parties. The guest lists were very exclusive and sought after, and while many rumors of what occurred in those parties spread like wildfire, very few people could experience them first-hand. Dancers spinning in large, plastic balloons, stilt-walkers serving champagne, and Ashton Kutcher swinging like Diomedes among lounging, white-bikinied models. The scene was luxury and pleasure – a combination fame cannot resist.
In March, Homeland Security Investigations raided Combs’ homes in Miami and Los Angeles after a number of civil lawsuits were made against him. They successfully uncovered firearms and ammunition, including three AR-15s and a large capacity drum-magazine. After searching through every residence under Combs’s name, law enforcement also found a startling collection of 100 bottles of baby oil. Combs was soon arrested and has been incarcerated ever since. Many women who claim to be victims of Combs’ abuse have come out to speak against him in the coming trial of May 2025. But what is the abuse that these women endured?
Combs was accused by the courts of engaging in sex trafficking, sexual assault, transportation of prostitution, and rackteering. More than 100 alleged victims are claiming to have been abused by Combs in circumstances that the ex-rapper coined “Freak-Offs”. In these events, Combs obtained and distributed narcotics to women, with the intention of making them obedient and compliant. Then, he would coerce them into fulfilling extreme sexual desires – if they refused, he would threaten them with intimidation/violence or promise to cut them off from the supply of narcotics (many of these women fell into addiction because of Combs).
As of right now, Marc Agnifilo is Combs’s attorney, and has reached out publicly to defend Combs’s innocence, stating that he will fight to the end to defend Combs. Prosecutors are saying that since 2008, Combs has participated in criminal organization, sex trafficking, forced labor, arson, bribery, kidnapping, and other offenses. Multiple women have spoken up about the abuse they endured in cases starting as early as 2009.
It will be a couple of months before Combs’ face the judge, U.S. Magistrate Robyn Tarnofsky. Within that time, many conspiracies will whirl around the internet, defending and accusing Sean Combs of these actions. Hopefully, the law will do its job and justice will be served for all of those who have suffered.
