The Muppets Take Disney

One March 15th, 2025 The Muppets were seen in the wild for the first time since the airing of their most recent TV Show ,Muppets Mayhem, in 2023. Many people were surprised to see the beloved Muppets, but were more surprised to see the group was found chaining themselves to Miss Piggy’s Fountain in Walt Disney World’s Muppet Courtyard.
The protest was in response to the announcing of the closing of Muppet Vision in favor of a new Monsters Inc. World. The beloved Muppet attraction will officially close on June 7th, 2025 and the Muppets will take over the ‘Rockin Rollercoaster.’ However many feel that the closing of Muppet Vision will erase the Muppets legacy as they are moving to a smaller attraction. There has been slight uproar online about this change as people believe the muppets should have their own attraction and area in the Disney parks.
The protesters consisted of the original Muppet cast including Kermit the Frog, Mrs.Piggy, Fozzy Bear and many more. Standing beside them were many notable guests such as Elmo and Big Bird from Sesame Street, who are known to be close friends with Muppets, and actor Jason Segel who starred in the 2011 hit movie The Muppets. The group could be seen locking arms with a rainbow chain running around their waists locking them to the fountain. Park guests reported the protesters refused to speak to anyone, rather they just chanted the lyrics to various Muppet songs over and over again.
The display was mediated by security as they simply forced the key to the lock out of Kermit’s hand and undid all the chains. The Muppets were then removed from the park. While standing outside however local news sources asked Kermit what the Muppets will do next, he responded by saying that the Muppets will, “Not give up, that fountain has been ours for 30 years and no walking green eye-ball and his cotton candy alien looking best friend is gonna take our place.” Sources believe Kermit was referencing Mike Wazowski and Sully from Monsters Inc. but were unable to confirm as he refused further comments, and soon after left.
Disney World has made no comments regarding the protest at this time, but many feel their decision is final and that the Muppets fight for their courtyard is a lost cause.
