Independent Studies: Sign Up Today!

Independent studies are an often overlooked aspect of high school life. These classes allow students to learn a fascinating topic that they otherwise would not be able to cover in the normal school day. These self-designed courses give students special opportunities, unmatched by normal classes, but the June deadline rapidly approaches.

This year, students are independently studying a variety of subjects, from AP Macro and AP Microeconomics, to Cellular Neuroscience, to Analysis of French Culture, to Sports Statistics, and many others. Any and all topics are open to academic pursuit in the form of an independent study if you desire.

To participate in an independent study, students must complete an application that describes what the objectives and study goals of the class will be. They must get a faculty advisor, who will provide support and assistance throughout the school year. At the end of the independent study, students must then present to the review board to ascertain if they will be awarded credit for the course.

If you are interested in signing up for an independent study, you can find the application online on the woboe.org website.
