November 13th, WOHS celebrated the Class of 2025 early signing period for nine prospective student-athletes. The first signing period was for Girls Soccer and Girls Lacrosse at 2:30 p.m. the second was for Girls Basketball at 7:30 p.m. The athletes all shared meaningful words with their supporters and took plentiful pictures highlighting their achievements. Lauren Villasin – Soccer – University of Albany (Division I)
“This is an important moment in my life and I’m so glad to be celebrating it with the girls here!” exclaimed Villasin, a staple midfielder for WOHS girls soccer. She was a starter since her freshman year and a captain her senior year. “Most importantly, I wanna thank my parents and my sister for always being there for me, pushing me to be the best version of myself, sacrificing their time to support me!” She had a career total of 34 goals and 15 assists, senior year accounting for 12 of these goals and 5 of those assists. She’s a representative for the Philippine Women’s National Team. Villasin played on club team Cedar Stars Academy.
Sheyla Fields – Lacrosse – Howard University (Division I)
“West Orange has really come together as a program with all the steps we’ve taken with each year,” said Fields, a four-year starter, who became a feisty attacker for WOHS girls lacrosse. Her current career stats include 44 goals, 40 assists, 101 ground balls, 3 draw controls, and 13 forced turnovers. Fields played on club teams DEWLAX and CLC. “I’m so proud of how far we’ve all come and I’m so thankful for the coaching staff that shows up for us time and time again.”
Nyah McKinney – Lacrosse – Howard University (Division I)
“What I’ve learned as an athlete is hard work and dedication will pay off and things always happen for a reason,” said McKinney, a starter since freshman year and now a senior captain. McKinney has played a key role as a midfield for WOHS girls lacrosse. To her, “Howard is just another step in this very long and unpredictable course of mine, and I am excited to see what I will do in the near future.” Her current career stats include 115 goals, 46 assists, 147 ground balls, 99 draw controls, and 15 forced turnovers. McKinney played on club team CLC. She also was a cheerleader and captain her senior year.
Isabella Pincham – Lacrosse – Temple University (Division I)
“I lastly want to congratulate all of my teammates who are signing for this exciting accomplishment and I am so glad I get to do it with all of you,” said Pincham, who joined WOHS girls lacrosse her sophomore year, became a significant midfielder, and now senior captain. After thanking her coaches and family, Pincham expressed how “it means so much to me that we get to share this moment and I am so proud of you all.” She transferred from Paramus Catholic where she led the girls lacrosse team with 44 goals, 13 assists, 75 ground balls, and 101 draw controls. Her current WOHS career stats include 77 goals, 58 assists, 176 ground balls, 185 draw controls, and 44 forced turnovers. Pincham played on club team CLC. She also played for the WOHS girls soccer team and was a captain her senior year.
Zoe McSharry – Lacrosse – Thomas Jefferson University (Division II)
“To all my friends and teammates, thank you for the support, the fun, and the love. I’ve had the experience of a lifetime being able to grow up and play the sport with you,” said McSharry, a starter since freshman year, who has made noise on the attacking end for WOHS girls lacrosse. Her current career stats include 109 goals, 41 assists, 131 ground balls, 8 draw controls, 17 forced turnovers. McSharry played on club teams CLC and DEWLAX. McSharry concluded with a sweet message, “To my parents and family, thank you for your unwavering support and encouragement and for being a part of my journey, helping me become the person I am today.”
(Update as of 12/12/2024): McSharry has now recommitted to play at Stevenson University (Division III) for her next 4 years!
Sophia Feli – Lacrosse – Scranton University (Division III)
Feli, a starter since freshman year, has taken on a flexible role both on the defensive end and in the midfield. She is also a senior captain. Her current career stats include 33 goals, 11 assists, 108 ground balls, 23 draw controls, and 20 forced turnovers. Feli played on club team CLC. She also played on the WOHS girls volleyball team and was a captain her senior year.
Brooke Meisner – Lacrosse – St. Mary’s College of Maryland (Division III)
“It is really special to be able to experience this day with so many of my friends,” expressed Meisner, a key starting midfielder since freshman year, now a senior captain. Smiling to the women around her, Meisner finished her speech, “I am so thankful for you all for always making it easy to come to practice everyday and allowing me to love a sport with all of you guys!” Her current career stats include 74 goals, 40 assists, 175 ground balls, 134 draw controls, and 13 forced turnovers. Meisner played on club team CLC.
Kyley Gary-Grayson – Basketball – Coppin State University (Division I)
Gary-Grayson, a fiery player since freshman year, now senior captain, has played a big role for the girls basketball team. Her current career stats include 916 points, 301 rebounds, 117 assist, 9 blocks, 183 steals, and 74 games played. Gary-Grayson played on club team Lightning Melicious.
Anaya Karriem – Basketball – North Carolina A&T State University (Division I)
“To my high school coaches, Coach Colebella, Coach Cuzzo and Coach Williams, I truly thank you for molding me into the player and person I am,” reflected senior captain Karriem, who has leveled up her game since her first year becoming a major part of the girls basketball team. “I would first like to say that this journey I’ve been on to get here has been a miracle and it’s truly all glory to God!” Her current career stats include 497 points, 583 rebounds, 22 assists, 152 blocks, 63 steals, and 60 games played. Karriem played on club team Hurban Legends of Jersey.
These athletes have made great strides for the WOHS sports programs and have represented the WOHS community well. Congratulations to all the signees!
