The Importance of Voting & How To Register

Voting has been and always will be important to the development and improvement of society. In recent years, specifically after the Trump vs. Clinton and Trump vs. Biden presidential elections, the media has emphasized the importance of voting, especially to Gen Z, the youngest generation able to vote.

No matter how big or small the election is, whether it is for the town Mayor or President of the nation, the people who are chosen to represent you and your community will impact you in some way, shape, or form, especially if you are a minority or POC.

With fundamental rights on the line, such as the ability of women to get a safe abortion, voting is extremely important. High School juniors and seniors, listen up: if you are 17, you are able to register to vote. When you obtain your license at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), you are offered the opportunity to register to vote. If you choose not to, vote.gov is a quick and easy way to register. West Orange High School will also, very occasionally, hand out physical copies of the registration form.

Voting is not just a responsibility, but an obligation to rightfully serve democracy in America.
