PUNXUATAWNEY, PENNSYLVANIA – At 7:25 am this morning Phil, the famed groundhog was awoken from his stump as a crowd of eager fans chanted his name. After a ceremonious presentation of the groundhog, Phil was placed on top of his stump, directing his handler, A.J. Dereume to the scroll that announced an early spring. The news came to the delight of not only Punxsutawney onlookers but also the students of West Orange High School, who erupted into cheers after watching Phil’s prognostication in the school library just minutes before the school day began.
