As the month of April comes to a close, people start to look back on the fun times they had, specifically during Spring Break. Spring Break is very crucial for people, especially students, allowing some time off from the stress of school and its work.

Spring Break started in 1938 as a swim forum event in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. But by the 1960s, students started to come to the town at large, which local businesses took advantage of by offering special salesand discounts on all-you-can-drink beer. It soon became the prime area for students to party.

But crowds started to become larger which made it harder to get them under control. With over 370,000 students attending in 1985, more than 2,500 students were arrested for their rowdy behavior. Local officials continued to shut down many events surrounding Spring Break. Drinking was prohibited on beaches and students were told that they were no longer allowed in Ft. Lauderdale.

However, students started to go to other locations to keep the party going. These were Panama City in Florida, South Padre Island in Texas, and Cancun, Mexico. Each city hosts a large number of students every year, with Panama City hosting 370,000 students, and South Padre hosting more than 150,000 students.

For college students, Spring Break has been known for mainly underage drinking and partying. Many arrests are made due to this rowdy behavior, giving Spring Break a bad reputation. But there is more to Spring break than drinking and going down south to party.

For me, Spring Break is a great way to take care of myself. It is also a great way to take care of yourself physically. For example, during your spring break, you might get to spend more time outdoors than you usually would. You also get to spend more time with your family and friends outside of school or work. Overall, spring break is a great time to take care of your health and your relationships.

Spring break can mean many different things to people and people can do very different things during spring break. Whether it means to party, to relax, or to vacation, spring break is an important time for all of us, as it can be a great way to have fun, and maybe make new memories along the way.
