Taylor Shimek (She/Her) is a student journalist for The Pioneer. She has written for the student newsite for almost two years and especially loves editorials.
Her passion for writing began when she was young with made-up story books and has ceased to stop as those stories transformed into reporting current events. Her favorite part of The Pioneer is the physical edition the club creates at the end of the year that encapsulates our journalist's favorite articles.
Additionally, her favorite part of journalism is being able to share information on a variety of different topics with others. The Pioneer has taught Taylor many valuable skills, such as time management, listening, and understanding other's opinions, and has helped her learn more about herself, including what career she hopes to pursue in the future.
When she is not writing, you can find her in FBLA or French Club/French Honors Society, which she has been actively involved in since her freshman year. Apart from writing, her hobbies include traveling, listening to music, reading, and hanging out with friends or her cat. Taylor is so excited about what this year has to offer!
