Aanya Ortiz (she/her) is a newly appointed staff member of the Pioneer. She is currently a sophomore at West Orange High School. Aanya was born and raised in Manhattan, New York, for her first six years and thereafter moved to West Orange, New Jersey, where she lives with her mom and dog. 

She envisions herself contributing to The Pioneer and looks forward to writing editorials this year! She also wants to become more active in the school community. Aanya is a member of the JV tennis team and has played tennis since her childhood, with this being her first year playing competitively. 

 She is passionate about film and could envision herself pursuing something in the film industry when she gets older. 

Some fun facts about Anya are that her favorite artist is Eminem; however, her music tastes vary occasionally. She enjoys science and history, is the youngest of four, and is an aunt.
